Winter photoshoot at Shi Shi Beach out on the Washington Coast, Olympic National Park

Join me for a 5 days sea kayak camping adventure photographing the landscapes and nightscapes of Ozette Lake in Olympic National Park.

We hike up to the summit of Vesper Peak to photograph sunset, the night sky and sunrise over the North Cascade Mountains. Unfortunately, forest fire smoke blew in from Eastern Washington, obscuring the night sky and sunrise. But the sunset was magical.

Join me on a sea kayaking paddle to Saddlebag Island to see its wildlife, explore its forests and to check out the spring wildflowers that grow along its rocky shoreline.

Short-eared owls hunt for voles and other small rodents during daylight hours, typically in early morning and late afternoon. This diurnal behavior makes them one of the easier owl species to locate and photograph. I found the owl featured in this video in the Skagit Bay Wildlife Area on Fir Island in northwestern Washington State.
