Road Trip
Join me on a 52 day winter landscape photography road trip through the American Southwest…
In January and February of 2024, I traveled 6100 miles over 52 days to explore and photograph landscapes of the American Southwest. I traveled to California’s Owens Valley, Alabama Hills, Death Valley National Park, Mojave Desert, and Joshua Tree National Park. In Arizona, I visited Saguaro National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. In Utah, I explored Escalante, Capitol Reef National Park, and Canyonlands National Park.
The deserts of the American Southwest provide a remarkable setting to witness the Earth's exposed geology, allowing for reflection on the forces of plate tectonics and an appreciation for how wind and water erosion have sculpted the rock into extraordinary shapes throughout the ages. I wonder, what it will all look like after hundred million years of transformation?
This was a bucket list trip I had in mind while converting an old 1995 Mitsubishi Delica L400 into a camper van for outdoor adventures and photography. Read more about the van conversion here.
While focusing on landscape photography, I also recorded short videos to capture the experience.
